about me
Have you ever met someone who just loves their name? That's me. My name actually means light. Named at birth as Cindy, I was instantly labeled Bringer of Light. Some would say my identity was chosen the minute my parents settled on a name. Would I be a beacon of light in this world? Would this gal live up to a name that was chosen before she embarked on actually living? Was this my destiny??
Here's the thing: I was born as a preemie. Five weeks early. Back in the 80s, this was a big deal. Technology was just emerging to help babies who were born early, but for a brief moment, my parents were afraid they would lose me.
BUT GOD. He often takes what looks like an impossible situation and makes it possible -- and He shines while doing it. My life of giving light begins.
let me tell you my story.
As my parents listened to the doctors and watched the machines around them light up after my birth, they pondered if this little miracle that had just entered their lives was here to stay. At her wit's end and unable to do anything more, my mother did what any person would do and looked up. No, really looked up. She prayed. She knew she couldn't do this on her own and asked God to intervene. She gave her life over to Jesus and vowed to serve Him all her days. In her new found faith, she shared her decision with her husband - my dad - and remarkably, he decided he was all in too. Jesus saved them.
He saved me too.
Perhaps my destiny is not just giving light, but radiating light. His light.
Back in the day, names were believed to express the essence of a person. In fact, names defined you. A name actually meant more than a reputation - it identified the character of the person carrying that name. Whether or not my parents fully understood the significance behind the name they had appropriately chosen, I was destined to be a bringer of light.

I'm a thirty-something year old gal full of southern charm who lives in a small town in Ohio. I love being barefoot and still wear pretty dresses just so I can twirl around in them. I'm a daughter of the King and have chosen to live - no, truly live - up to my destiny of radiating His light. In my short journey, I've learned that it all comes down to two things: faith and family. Perhaps this blog is just a tool of documenting all that He has done in my life or the ways in which I have seen His handiwork within the daily grind. Perhaps it's just another avenue to shine light in a 21st Century way to those who are willing to listen. If anything, I want to share what it is like to soak as much LIFE out of life -- that inexplicable joy that comes from serving a God way bigger than anything you and I may face.

I am a firm believer in living life to the full. I realize that I've been bought with a price, and it's my job to live life abundantly. Enter my mindset: I'm all about viewing life as an adventure. In fact, I can tell you without any hesitation that I feel most alive when I'm exploring God's creation -- and there is sweet joy when you connect with your Creator.
This blog focuses on JOY -- and trust me, lots of joy happens when you choose to live fearlessly. Just like I want to share with you the good news in trusting in a non-changing, Sovereign God who holds our futures, I want to tell you all about the cool tips and trips with traveling solo and exploring the world. This space is meant to encourage and inspire you by radiating that LIGHT that has been given to me.
Your normal day can be an adventure. Did you know that? Sometimes adventure appears in the normal day-to-day grind; sometimes it comes from leaving your hometown and packing a suitcase. Sometimes it's the unknown; sometimes it's just shaking up your routine. With that said: this is also a space that focuses on healthy living: mind, body and soul. Let's face it. You can travel the world and experience every adventure in the book but unless your heart and mind are in the right spot, it's meaningless.
